Municipality information
Oranienburg liegt an der nördlichen Stadtgrenze der Bundeshauptstadt Berlin. Oranienburg hat heute mehr als 48.000 Einwohner/innen. Der Name der Stadt geht zurück auf die niederländische Prinzessin Louise Henriette von Oranien (1627–1667), die die Stadt 1653 neu begründete.

Die guten Verkehrsanbindungen an den Berliner Autobahnring A 10, an Regionalbahn und Berliner S-Bahn (S 1) sowie zum Flugverkehr unterstützen die heutige Bedeutung Oranienburgs als wichtigstem Wirtschaftsstandort nördlich von Berlin.
<br><br>
Seit der Gemeindegebietsreform am 26.10.2003 gehören die früheren Umlandgemeinden Friedrichsthal, Germendorf, Lehnitz, Malz, Schmachtenhagen/Bernöwe, Wensickendorf und Zehlendorf zum Stadtgebiet.

Municipality information
Oranienburg liegt an der nördlichen Stadtgrenze der Bundeshauptstadt Berlin. Oranienburg hat heute mehr als 48.000 Einwohner/innen. Der Name der Stadt geht zurück auf die niederländische Prinzessin Louise Henriette von Oranien (1627–1667), die die Stadt 1653 neu begründete.

Die guten Verkehrsanbindungen an den Berliner Autobahnring A 10, an Regionalbahn und Berliner S-Bahn (S 1) sowie zum Flugverkehr unterstützen die heutige Bedeutung Oranienburgs als wichtigstem Wirtschaftsstandort nördlich von Berlin.

Seit der Gemeindegebietsreform am 26.10.2003 gehören die früheren Umlandgemeinden Friedrichsthal, Germendorf, Lehnitz, Malz, Schmachtenhagen/Bernöwe, Wensickendorf und Zehlendorf zum Stadtgebiet.
