Die Gesamtstadt Soest soll bis 2030 klimaneutral werden. Dieses Ziel hat der Rat der Stadt Soest im Juni 2020 beschlossen. Der Masterplan Klimapakt Soest beschreibt die Ausgangslage in Soest sowie den Weg, um dieses Ziel zu erreichen. Der Rat der Stadt Soest hat diesen Masterplan am 28. April 2021 beschlossen.
Bereits im Juni 2020 hatte der Rat einen Katalog an Sofortmaßnahmen für den Klimaschutz auf den Weg gebracht. Weitere Maßnahmen aus dem Masterplan werden 2021 starten. Erste Maßnahme ist das 2000-Dächer-Programm bis 2030. Das Förderprogramm zur Photovoltaik ist am 03. Mai 2021 gestartet.
